DO’s and DON’Ts

DO’S
  • NH boating laws require you be 150 feet from shore, docks, rafts, swimmers, skiers/tubers/boarders and other boats when above headway speed.
  • If you don’t have 150 feet ON EACH SIDE when BETWEEN ISLANDS AND SHORE, SLOW DOWN to headway speed.
  • Canoes, kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, seaplanes, and swimmers have the RIGHT-OF-WAY.
  • Observers for towing skiers/tubing/wake boarders or surfing must be at least 13 years old.
  • CHILDREN 12 and under MUST WEAR a Coast Guard approved PFD when on a watercraft.
  • A PFD is required for each person onboard a kayak, paddleboat, paddle board, or canoe.
  • From SUNSET TO SUNRISE, navigation lights are required when boating, and skiing/tubing/boarding is prohibited.
  • NH FISHING regulations apply. Please pick up a copy of the regulations when purchasing a fishing license.
  • PROPER DISPOSAL OF PET WASTE in the trash is very much appreciated.
  • Purchase TRANSFER STATION PERMITS at the Transfer Station in Sanbornville and dispose of trash and recyclables properly.
  • CAMPFIRE PERMITS are available from the fire warden at Sanbornville Fire Station (no charge), State Line Garage in East Wakefield, or obtain online (small fee).
  • NH CLEAN, DRAIN AND DRY law requires removal of all plants from boats, trailers, and fishing equipment before launching and when exiting the lake. Milfoil and other invasive species is of serious concern for us all
  • IF YOU ARE A RENTER or GUEST of a PRP property owner and wish to use the Access Point on Lord Road, kindly donate $25 toward the ramp maintenance in the box located at the ramp.

 

DON’T’S
  • LOONS are a threatened species in NH and protected by state and federal laws from hunting or harassment, including flushing loons from nests. Give nesting loons plenty of space, and this includes kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and swimmers. Only loon chick protection patrol boats should be close to a loon/chick.
  • The ISLANDS are private property. Do not trespass without the owner’s permission.
  • JET SKIS are BANNED by NH law on PRP. PWC’s that seat 3 or more are permitted. The operator must be 16 years or older.
  • No washing or shampooing in or near the lake.
  • Mooring to a navigational marker is prohibited by NH law.
  • If you allow others to use your property to launch, ensure the NH Clean, Drain and Dry law is observed. PRP has the invasive plant Swollen Bladderwort which can spread by a seed and plant fragment. Closely examine all watercraft, toys, floats, trailers and equipment going in and out or PRP.
  • BE AWARE OF NOISE AND LIGHTS – Please be considerate of your neighbors. Sound travels and lights reflect across the water. Please keep music turned down and flood lights off after dark.
  • ATV’s are NOT allowed on private land or roads without written permission of owner. It’s the law!
  • MEMBERS of the PRP Association are permitted to use the Pine River Association’s (PRA) Access Point on Lord Road. If you are not a member, or don’t have deeded property rights to use the PRA Access Point, you are trespassing.
